Sierra Jensen is Robin Jones Gunn’s second major YA protagonist, introduced after Christy Miller was established. Sierra is more free-spirited and unconventional than Christy, living in Portland rather than Southern California and bringing a different energy to similar themes of faith, friendship, and identity. The fifteen books run from Only You, Sierra (1995) through Take My Hand (1999).
Like the Christy Miller books, the Sierra Jensen series follows its protagonist through high school with an emphasis on real teenage emotions and Christian faith. Sierra’s voice is distinctly her own, more impulsive and questioning than Christy’s, which gives the series its own identity while appealing to the same readership.
