The Shooting Stars series follows the same structure as the Orphans books. Four short novels, Cinnamon, Ice, Rose, and Honey, each tell the story of a different girl with a talent for the performing arts. Each faces her own set of family problems and personal obstacles. Falling Stars then gathers all four at a prestigious performing arts school.
Published mostly in 2001, with some additional entries added later, the series gives each girl enough room to develop her own story before the ensemble finale. Written by Andrew Neiderman, it is aimed at readers who enjoy the V.C. Andrews formula with a focus on younger characters and artistic ambition.
