S.G. Redling’s standalone novels show her range across genres. Flowertown (2012) traps its characters in a quarantined zone, Damocles (2013) imagines first contact with aliens, and Baggage (2016) and At Risk (2016) are more grounded thrillers. Each book stands on its own with a different premise and setting.
Flowertown attracted attention for its conspiracy-laced plot about a sealed-off community and the government’s role in keeping secrets. Damocles went in a completely different direction, asking what happens when a human team encounters an alien species with its own language and social norms. The two later books moved away from speculative premises and into character-driven suspense.
Because each novel is independent, readers can start anywhere based on their interests. Those drawn to science fiction will want Damocles first, while readers who prefer taut thrillers with real-world stakes should try Flowertown or Baggage.
