The Selma Falck series began with A Grave for Two (2018) and runs to five books through 2021. Selma is a former handball champion and lawyer whose gambling addiction cost her everything. The series follows her attempts to find a new purpose through private investigation.
Holt uses Selma’s fall from grace as the emotional core of the series. Each case gives Selma a chance to prove herself while also testing whether she can stay clean. A Necessary Death (2020) and A Memory for Murder (2021) continue to develop both the mysteries and Selma’s personal recovery.
