The Selected Journals of L.M. Montgomery were the first published edition of her personal diaries, released in five volumes between 1986 and 1988. Edited by Mary Rubio and Elizabeth Waterston, the selected edition gave readers their first look at the private thoughts of one of Canada’s most famous authors.
While later superseded by the Complete Journals series, the Selected Journals remain widely read and were the edition that first revealed the depth of Montgomery’s inner struggles to a broad audience. The five volumes cover the full span of her adult life.
