The Seetee series by Jack Williamson tackles antimatter (contra-terrene matter, or “C.T.”) as both a resource and a threat. Seetee Shock (1950) and Seetee Ship (1951) follow prospectors in the asteroid belt who encounter deposits of antimatter, a substance that annihilates anything it touches from normal matter.
Originally published under the pseudonym Will Stewart, the Seetee books combine hard science fiction concepts with adventure plotting. The antimatter premise was ahead of its time and shows Williamson’s ability to build exciting stories around real physics concepts.
