Secret Coders follows Hopper, a new student at the mysterious Stately Academy, where she discovers that the school’s grounds are controlled by a turtle-based programming language. Together with her friend Eni, Hopper uses coding to solve puzzles, fight enemies, and uncover the school’s secrets.
The series spans seven volumes and was created by Gene Luen Yang with art by Mike Holmes. Each book builds on the coding concepts introduced in the previous one, moving from basic binary and sequencing to more advanced topics like procedures and recursion. It’s one of the few graphic novel series that functions as both an engaging story and a genuine introduction to computer science.
