Seasons Of The Heart uses the metaphor of the changing seasons to follow characters through different stages of life. The original quartet — Once Upon a Summer (1981), Winds of Autumn (1987), Winter Is Not Forever (1988), and Spring’s Gentle Promise (1989) — established the seasonal framework.
Later additions, including Amish-themed holiday titles and Harvest of Blessings (2015), expanded the series to ten books. The seasonal titles reflect Oke’s approach to storytelling: each phase of life brings its own challenges and blessings.
