The Scottish Fire series is a trilogy of medieval Scottish romances published between 2000 and 2002. Faulkner sets each book in the rugged Highlands and builds her stories around strong-willed heroines dealing with arranged marriages, clan rivalries, and forbidden love.
Highland Bride follows Kara, a woman married by contract to a thirteen-year-old heir, who finds herself drawn to his older brother instead. Highland Lady features Elen, a woman who disguises herself as a man to act as lord over her people, only to clash with Munro, the Lord of Rancoff, when her sister is reported kidnapped. Highland Lord rounds out the trilogy. The series won recognition including the Diamond Award for literary excellence in Delaware, and Faulkner also published these books under the name Colleen French.
