Sandra Cisneros has published three works of standalone fiction over nearly four decades. The House on Mango Street (1984) is her most famous book, a series of interconnected vignettes about a young girl’s life in a Latino neighborhood in Chicago. Caramelo (2002) is a multigenerational family novel that follows the Reyes family between Chicago and Mexico City.
Martita, I Remember You/Martita, Te Recuerdo (2021) is a bilingual novella about three young women from different countries living in Paris in the 1980s. It is a shorter work that returns to the tight, lyrical prose of Cisneros’s early writing.
