The Samantha Moon Case Files collect three mystery novellas featuring the vampire PI from J.R. Rain’s Vampire for Hire series. Moon Bayou (2015), Blood Moon (2018), and Parallel Moon (2019) each feature standalone investigations in Samantha Moon’s supernatural world.
Moon Bayou sends Samantha to Louisiana, where the setting adds a different flavor to her usual Southern California investigations. Blood Moon puts her on a case involving a werewolf connection, and Parallel Moon introduces parallel-dimension elements. The novellas are shorter than the full-length Vampire for Hire novels, making them quick side reads.
The Case Files were released over four years, slotting in between entries in the main series. They give Rain space to try different mystery setups without disrupting the ongoing Vampire for Hire storyline. Readers can treat them as bonus content rather than required reading, though they add depth to Samantha’s character.
