The Sam Deker series by Thomas Greanias starts with The Promised War (2010). Sam Deker is an IDF demolitions expert and counterterrorism operative. After capture by terrorists, he wakes up in ancient Jericho around 1400 BC, during the biblical siege.
The premise is unusual for a military thriller: half modern espionage, half ancient historical fiction. The 34th Degree (2011) and Dominium Dei (2012) continue the collision between Deker’s modern training and the ancient world he’s trapped in. The series is shorter and stranger than the Conrad Yeats books.
