This collection includes William McIlvanney’s publications through the Saltire Society, a Scottish cultural organization. The five works span from 2013 to 2021 and include essays and lectures on Scottish art, nationality, and creative life.
The Artist and Nationality (2013), Dreaming Scotland (2014), Nevertheless (2014), Second Wind (2015), and Ploughing the City (2021) each address aspects of Scottish identity and the role of the writer in Scottish public life. Some of these were published posthumously, as McIlvanney died in 2015.
