Rory Stewart’s non-fiction spans two decades and several continents, from war zones to the halls of Parliament. The Places in Between (2004) records his solo walk across Afghanistan in winter 2002, while The Prince of the Marshes (2005) draws on his time governing a province in post-invasion Iraq.
The Marches (2015) takes a more personal turn, following Stewart and his father on walks along the Scottish-English border. Politics On the Edge (2023) is his account of life as a British government minister, offering an insider’s view of how modern politics actually works — and frequently doesn’t.
