The Rhymes With Love series, published from 2012 to 2017, has one of the more inventive hooks in Regency romance. An old nursery rhyme supposedly foretells the kind of man each heroine will end up with, and each book’s title references the rhyme. The heroines are skeptical, of course, until events start lining up in ways they cannot easily explain away.
Starting with Along Came a Duke, the seven books follow different women connected by the rhyme and by their social circles. Boyle uses the conceit to set up fun, sometimes surprising pairings while keeping the tone light and romantic. The series has the same wit and warmth as the Bachelor Chronicles, with the added element of the rhyme giving each story a sense of playful inevitability.
