The Raven series is Giles Kristian’s debut work, a Viking trilogy set in ninth-century England. The books follow Osric, a young man with no memory of his origins, who joins a band of Norse warriors led by Jarl Sigurd. The Norsemen name him Raven because of a blood-red mark in one eye, which they take as a sign from Odin.
Blood Eye (2009) introduced the series and earned praise from Bernard Cornwell. Sons of Thunder (2010) and Odin’s Wolves (2011) continued the story as Raven grows from a bewildered outsider into a capable warrior. The trilogy is a coming-of-age adventure grounded in historical detail about Viking culture, longship travel, and Dark Ages warfare.
