PS, I Love You (2003) tells the story of Holly Kennedy, a young widow whose late husband Gerry left behind a series of letters to help her move on with her life. The novel was Cecelia Ahern’s debut and became an international phenomenon, selling millions of copies worldwide. The 2007 film adaptation starred Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler.
Postscript (2019) returns to Holly’s story years later, when a group called the P.S. I Love You Club reaches out to her. Its members are terminally ill and want to write letters to their loved ones, inspired by Gerry’s example. The sequel explores grief, memory, and the lasting impact of love from a different angle than the original.
