Protectors of the Pack is Keira Blackwood’s longest-running shifter series, stretching from her debut year of 2016 through to 2021. The six books follow different members of a wolf shifter pack across roles that define both their place in the hierarchy and the kind of trouble they are likely to find: the bodyguard who gets too close to whoever he is protecting, the wolf who cannot stop treating the woman he loves like an enemy, the heir who has responsibilities that complicate everything else.
The 2016 books, Bodyguard, Enemies, and Heir, established the pack and its world in Blackwood’s compact, quick-reading style. When she returned to the series in 2019 with Warrior and Scoundrel, the world had breathing room that the earlier books had not needed, and the result is a slightly more developed take on the same community. Brawler, the 2021 finale, gives the series a proper send-off.
Reading in publication order is the natural way to approach the series, as the pack’s history accumulates across all six books and later characters reference events from earlier stories. The gap between the 2016 and 2019 books has not hurt the continuity, and readers who pick up the whole series in one run will find the world feels consistent throughout.
