Prof Croft is Brad Magnarella’s longest running series, with fourteen books published between 2016 and 2023. Everson Croft teaches mythology at a New York City university by day while secretly using wizard powers to deal with supernatural threats that leak into the mortal world. Book of Souls (2016) establishes the premise, and each subsequent book raises the stakes as Croft faces increasingly dangerous entities.
The series moves from relatively contained cases in the early books to large-scale conflicts in later entries like Godly Wars (2022) and Angel Doom (2023). Croft is a wizard with limitations, which keeps the tension present even as his abilities grow. The New York City setting provides a useful contrast between the everyday academic world and the hidden supernatural one. The series has spawned two spin-off series, Croft & Tabby and Croft & Wesson, that expand the universe.
