The Primavera Blackstone series is a spin-off from Quintin Jardine’s Oz Blackstone mysteries. Primavera was originally introduced as Oz’s wife in that series, and after their relationship ended, Jardine gave her a series of her own. The five books follow Primavera as she builds a new life in Spain while repeatedly getting caught up in murder investigations.
Starting with Inhuman Remains in 2009, the series ran through As Serious As Death in 2013. The Spanish setting gives these books a different flavor from Jardine’s Edinburgh-based crime fiction. Primavera is a resourceful narrator, and the plots mix local intrigue with international crime. Readers who enjoyed the Oz Blackstone books will recognize some familiar faces, but these novels stand on their own as solid mystery fiction with a Mediterranean backdrop.
