The Plague Times Trilogy imagines a world devastated by a fast-moving pandemic. A Lovely Way to Burn (2014) begins in London as the disease strikes, following a woman investigating her boyfriend’s suspicious death amid the chaos. Death Is a Welcome Guest (2015) shifts to a group of prisoners in the Scottish Highlands who must survive both the plague and each other.
No Dominion (2017) completes the trilogy in the aftermath, as survivors attempt to rebuild a functional society. Written before the COVID-19 pandemic gave the genre new relevance, the trilogy’s dark, realistic approach to societal collapse has gained additional readers in recent years.
