Felix “Choo-Choo” Buschitski is Kirk Alex’s scrappy, bottom-of-the-barrel private investigator working the seedier corners of Los Angeles. The series kicked off in 2014 with five novels released in quick succession: Bone, Angel–the Crazy Woman, The Case of the Vengeful Vixen, My Kind of Client, and The Hard Bitch. Each book drops Choo-Choo into a new mess of trouble that he is barely equipped to handle.
The tone is what Alex calls “boudoir noir,” mixing crime plots with adult content and dark comedy. Choo-Choo is no suave detective. He hangs around donut shops waiting for clients who may or may not show up, and when they do, the cases tend to go sideways fast. The series is written for readers who enjoy their crime fiction with the sleaze turned up and the pretension stripped away.
