Peter Crowther’s work as an anthology editor is staggering in both volume and variety. Between 1991 and 2017, he edited or co-edited 73 anthologies spanning horror, dark fantasy, science fiction, and crime fiction. His earliest editorial projects, including Narrow Houses (1993) and Blue Motel (1994), focused on themed horror fiction and helped establish him as one of the field’s most reliable editors. By the mid-1990s, he was producing multiple anthologies per year on subjects as varied as werewolves, vampires, Arthurian legend, and Alice in Wonderland.

His later anthologies reflect the broadening of his interests and the growth of PS Publishing. Volumes like Moon Shots (1999), Mars Probes (2002), and We Think, Therefore We Are (2008) moved into hard science fiction territory, while collections like Taps and Sighs (2000) and A Book of Horrors (2011) stayed rooted in the dark fiction that has always been his home ground. Crowther has a talent for assembling strong tables of contents and for finding the right writers for unusual themes, which is why his anthologies have remained popular with readers and collectors for over 25 years.
