The Peachtree Bluff series is set in a fictional small town on the Georgia coast, where the Cooke family has lived for generations. The story begins when Ansley Cooke’s daughter Caroline shows up on her doorstep after her marriage falls apart, and it expands from there to take in the lives of Ansley, her three daughters, and eventually a fourth generation. The series covers years of family history, touching on secrets kept and eventually revealed, old loves, and the particular comfort of a place that always draws you back.
Harvey writes the books from multiple points of view, shifting between Ansley and her daughters so each woman gets room to tell her own story. The small-town Georgia setting is very much a character in itself, warm and coastal, with the kind of close community where history and gossip travel at the same speed. Christmas in Peachtree Bluff closes out the main storyline with a holiday gathering that ties up threads running through the whole series.
