The Patrick Melrose series consists of five novels by Edward St Aubyn. The books follow Patrick Melrose across decades, starting with his traumatic childhood in Never Mind, through his drug addiction in Bad News, and continuing through his attempts at recovery and family life in the later novels.
The series is considered semi-autobiographical. St Aubyn has spoken publicly about drawing on his own experiences of abuse and addiction. The books were published over nearly twenty years, from 1992 to 2011, and were adapted into a television miniseries in 2018.
