The Partholon series was P.C. Cast’s first major work, launching with Divine by Mistake in 2001. The series is set in Partholon, a world modeled on Celtic mythology where centaurs, goddesses, and magic are real. The early books follow women from modern Earth who are transported to Partholon and must adapt to a world very different from their own.
The series expanded over nine books, including Elphame’s Choice and Brighid’s Quest, which focus on characters native to Partholon. The later additions, Spells Trouble (2021), Omens Bite (2022), and Hex You (2023), were co-written with Kristin Cast and brought the series back after a long hiatus. The Partholon books established many of the themes Cast would return to throughout her career: goddess mythology, worlds in collision, and women finding strength through supernatural connections.
