Odyssey One is a military science fiction series by Canadian author Evan Currie. The first book, Into the Black, was originally self-published in 2011 before being picked up by 47North, Amazon’s sci-fi imprint. The series grew to eight main installments plus multiple spinoff series set in the same universe.
The story begins when Captain Eric Weston takes command of the NAC Odyssey, Earth’s first ship equipped with a faster-than-light drive. On its maiden voyage beyond the solar system, the crew encounters the Priminae, an advanced alien civilization locked in a losing war against the Drasin, a relentless species that consumes planets. Weston’s decision to intervene pulls Earth into a conflict far larger than anyone anticipated.
As the series progresses, the scope expands from first contact to full-scale galactic warfare, with Weston rising through the ranks while leading increasingly desperate operations against threats that dwarf anything humanity has faced before.
