Oberon’s Meaty Mysteries is a companion series to Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid Chronicles, written from the point of view of Oberon, the Irish wolfhound belonging to the ancient druid Atticus O’Sullivan. Oberon can communicate telepathically with Atticus, and in the main series he provides comic relief with his obsession with food, pop culture references, and his own brand of canine logic.
The Meaty Mysteries novellas give Oberon his own cases to solve. The Purloined Poodle (2016) has him investigating a missing dog, while The Squirrel on the Train (2017) and Canines and Cocktails (2024) continue in the same lighthearted vein. The stories are shorter and funnier than the main Iron Druid novels, leaning into the humor of having a dog narrator who takes his detective work very seriously.
These novellas are part of the broader Iron Druid Chronicles world and are listed on Chuck Wendig’s author page because the database tracks all contributors to the series. Kevin Hearne is the primary author of the Iron Druid universe.
