The Not-So-Impossible Tales is a series of illustrated chapter books written by Philip Reeve and illustrated by Sarah McIntyre. Each book presents a standalone adventure with an absurd premise played completely straight: living islands made of seaweed, cakes with attitude in outer space, or pugs pulling sleds in a race to the North Pole.
Reeve and McIntyre developed the books as a true partnership, with words and pictures created together from the start. The results are fast-paced, funny stories packed with visual gags and inventive details. The series works well for confident young readers or as read-alouds for younger children who enjoy adventure stories with plenty of pictures.
