The No Ordinary Hero trilogy by Suzanne Enoch is set in the Scottish Highlands and was published between 2016 and 2018. Like her other Highland-set series, these books pair rugged Scottish men with English heroines, creating friction between two very different worlds.
Hero in the Highlands (2016) introduces a war-scarred major who returns to his family estate in Scotland, only to discover an Englishwoman has been hired to manage things in his absence. My One True Highlander follows with a Highland laird who accidentally kidnaps the wrong woman, and A Devil in Scotland closes the trilogy with a man who returns from years abroad seeking revenge against the family he blames for his brother’s death.
The three books share a setting and time period but focus on different couples. Enoch uses the remote Scottish landscape to isolate her characters from polite society, which forces the romantic conflicts to play out more directly than in her London-set Regency novels.
