The Night Hunter series by Robert Holdstock was published under the pseudonym Robert Faulcon between 1983 and 1987. The six books, from The Stalking through The Labyrinth, follow a protagonist dealing with dark supernatural forces. The series is straightforward horror fiction, faster-paced and more genre-conventional than Holdstock’s Mythago Wood work.
Written during the same period as Mythago Wood, the Night Hunter series shows a different side of Holdstock’s writing. Where Mythago Wood is literary and meditative, the Night Hunter books are pulpier and more action-oriented, designed to deliver scares rather than contemplation.
