Nicole Dennis-Benn has contributed to three anthologies across the period covered here. Can We All Be Feminists? (2018), edited by June Eric-Udorie, brings together essays from writers of diverse backgrounds addressing the intersectional dimensions of feminist politics. Well-Read Black Girl: Finding Our Stories, Discovering Ourselves (2018), edited by Glory Edim, collects personal essays from Black women writers about the books that shaped their reading lives and identities.
The Emerge: 2021 Lambda Fellows Anthology (2022) is a collection of work by fellows of the Lambda Literary Foundation’s Writers Retreat, an organization focused on LGBTQ+ literature that Dennis-Benn has been associated with — her novels have both won Lambda Literary Awards.
These anthology contributions place Dennis-Benn within broader conversations about Black women’s literature, Caribbean writing, and queer publishing that extend beyond her own novels.
