Brian Lumley’s Necroscope series launched in 1986 and grew into one of the longest-running horror fiction properties of its era, spanning 31 books over more than three decades. The series follows characters who can communicate with the dead, and its scope expanded considerably from the original novel into multiple sub-series. Blood Brothers (1992), The Last Aerie (1993), and Bloodwars (1994) formed a trilogy within the larger sequence, while later entries like Necroscope: Invaders (1999) and Necroscope: Defilers (2000) pushed the story in new directions.
Several entries appear in foreign-language editions alongside the English originals, including Polish titles like Nekroskop and Nekroskop: Stracone lata. The Lost Years sub-arc, which began in 1995, was still being completed as late as 2020 with The Last of the Lost Years, Vol. II. Standalone adventures such as Harry and the Pirates (2009) and The Mobius Murders (2013) filled gaps in the timeline between the main novels. For readers new to the series, starting with the 1986 original and working through in publication order is the most straightforward approach.
