The Myth Adventures series is a long-running comic fantasy that began in 1978 with Another Fine Myth by Robert Asprin. The books follow Skeeve, a young magician’s apprentice, and his mentor Aahz, a demon from the dimension of Perv who has been stripped of his magical powers. Together they stumble through misadventures across a multiverse of dimensions, relying on bluff, luck, and occasional competence to get out of trouble.
Asprin wrote the first ten novels solo, building a loyal following with his pun-filled titles and lighthearted tone. Starting with Myth Alliances in 2003, he began co-writing with Jody Lynn Nye. After Asprin passed away in 2008, Nye took over the series and published two more novels, Myth-Quoted in 2012 and Myth-Fits in 2016.
The series is known for its wordplay, with nearly every title being a play on the word “myth.” Published primarily by Ace and Berkley, the books have remained popular with readers who enjoy fantasy that does not take itself too seriously. The stories are best read in publication order, as character relationships and running jokes build on earlier entries.
