The original Montgomery Ink series runs to 22 books published between 2013 and 2020, establishing the central Montgomery family, their Denver tattoo shop, and the community of friends and partners that surrounds them. Each book focuses on a different family member or close associate finding love, with the tattoo parlor as the recurring anchor point of the world. The series begins with Ink Inspired and progresses through the extended family over the course of seven years.
Because the books share a large cast of recurring characters, reading in order gives readers the richest experience — characters who are secondary in one book often become protagonists in a later entry. The series is warm and family-oriented in tone, with the community bonds between characters playing as large a role as the central romance in each book. Montgomery Midnight Kisses (2020) rounds out the original series before the Legacy spinoff takes the story into the next generation.
