The Miss Silver series spans 32 books published between 1928 and 1961. It opens with Grey Mask and follows Miss Maud Silver through decades of cases. The early books appeared sporadically, with a nine-year gap between the first and second entries, but from the mid-1940s onward the series settled into a much faster release schedule, often producing two or three books per year.
Many of the titles were published under alternate names in different markets, which is why several entries in the list show two titles separated by a slash. For instance, Danger Point is also known as In the Balance, and She Came Back was published elsewhere as The Traveller Returns. Readers should not be confused by this; they are the same books.
The series wrapped up with The Girl in the Cellar in 1961. With 32 mysteries to work through, readers who enjoy classic detective fiction will find plenty here. Starting with Grey Mask and reading in publication order gives the best sense of how the character and stories developed over more than three decades.
