The Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences is a steampunk series by Pip Ballantine and Tee Morris, set in an alternate Victorian England where a secret government agency handles cases too strange for ordinary authorities. The Ministry employs agents to investigate supernatural threats, bizarre occurrences, and dangers that involve advanced steam-powered technology.
The main characters are Agents Eliza D. Braun, a field agent with a taste for explosives, and Wellington Books, the Ministry’s reserved archivist who gets pulled into the action. Their partnership drives the novels, which mix adventure, humor, and mystery against a backdrop of airships, automatons, and secret societies. The series also includes numerous short stories and companion volumes that expand the world beyond the main novels.
