Mick Foley’s five memoirs span nearly two decades of his life in and around professional wrestling. Have a Nice Day! A Tale of Blood and Sweatsocks (1999) covers his childhood through winning the WWF Championship from The Rock in 1998, including a detailed account of his infamous Hell in a Cell match against The Undertaker. The book became a number one New York Times bestseller. Foley is Good: And the Real World Is Faker Than Wrestling (2001) picks up from January 1999 through his retirement at WrestleMania 2000 and also hit number one.
The Hardcore Diaries (2007) takes a diary format and chronicles Foley’s 2006 WWE return, focusing on the creative process behind his tag team match at ECW One Night Stand. It also covers his trips with WWE to Iraq and Afghanistan. Countdown to Lockdown (2010) follows his transition from WWE to TNA Wrestling, covering the buildup to his TNA World Championship match against Sting at Lockdown 2009, along with stories about his humanitarian work in Sierra Leone. Saint Mick: My Journey From Hardcore Legend to Santa’s Jolly Elf (2017) is part memoir and part love letter to Christmas, describing how Foley took on the role of Santa Claus and discovered a new purpose through bringing joy to children, with a foreword by Stephanie McMahon.
