The Mici Anhalt series consists of three mystery novels published between 1977 and 1980. Anhalt works as a crime victim advocate, a role that puts her in contact with people affected by violence and brings her into investigations from the victim’s side rather than the police side. This gave O’Donnell a way to explore crime from a different angle than her Norah Mulcahaney novels.
The series begins with Aftershock (1977), followed by Falling Star (1979) and Wicked Designs (1980). The Anhalt books are shorter and fewer than the Mulcahaney series but share the same New York setting and O’Donnell’s interest in how crime affects ordinary people.
