Michael Harvey’s three standalone novels show his range beyond the Michael Kelly private detective series. The Innocence Game (2013) follows journalists investigating a potential wrongful conviction, a subject Harvey knows from his years in investigative television. Brighton (2016) is set in 1970s Boston and follows two childhood friends whose lives take very different paths.
Pulse (2018) is the most unusual of the three, mixing a thriller plot with speculative fiction elements. Together, these three books demonstrate Harvey’s interest in how crime affects ordinary people and how the justice system works, or fails to work, in different contexts.
