The Merlin series by T. A. Barron is the collected edition of his twelve-book saga following the legendary wizard. It begins with The Lost Years (1996), where a boy with no name or memory washes ashore on the coast of Wales, and follows his journey to becoming the most powerful wizard in legend. The saga spans the original Lost Years pentalogy, the Great Tree of Avalon trilogy, and the Merlin’s Dragon trilogy, all gathered under one umbrella.
The full series also includes some foreign language editions and concludes with Giant: The Unlikely Origins of Shim (2021), which returns to the world of Merlin decades after the main saga ended. For readers new to T. A. Barron, the individual sub-series (Lost Years, Great Tree, Merlin’s Dragon) offer natural entry points and reading breaks within the larger epic.
