Max Lucado has written four standalone novels published between 1994 and 2014. The Crippled Lamb, his earliest fiction title, tells the story of a lamb with a limp who ends up present at the birth of Jesus. Because I Love You and The Oak Inside the Acorn are shorter works aimed at younger readers, each built around a parable about love, purpose, or growing into who you were meant to be.
Miracle at the Higher Grounds Cafe, published in 2014, is Lucado’s entry into adult fiction. The story follows a down-on-her-luck woman who discovers a mysterious coffee shop where the barista answers customers’ prayers. It blends Lucado’s trademark spiritual themes with a more conventional novel structure. While Lucado is best known for his non-fiction and children’s books, these standalone titles show his range as a storyteller across different age groups and formats.
