Martyn Ford branched out from children’s fiction with these standalone titles. Chester Parsons is Not a Gorilla (2019) stayed in the younger readers’ lane as a comedy, but Every Missing Thing (2020) marked Ford’s move into adult fiction. That novel follows a family shattered when their son disappears, only for their daughter to vanish years later under similar circumstances, raising public doubts about the parents’ innocence.
All Our Darkest Secrets (2021) continued Ford’s run of suspenseful adult fiction, and Any One of Us (2022) centers on a woman named Ruby who returns to her hometown after former classmates start turning up dead. She notices a pattern in their old school photo that suggests the killer is working through victims in a specific order. All three adult novels were published by Amazon’s Thomas and Mercer imprint.
