Margaret Stohl’s standalone novels show her range beyond the fantasy and superhero series she is best known for. These four books span nearly a decade and cover very different subjects, from contemporary humor to reimagined classics.
Royce Rolls (2017) follows a family trapped in their own reality TV show, told with sharp comedy and a look at celebrity culture. Jo & Laurie (2020), co-written with Melissa de la Cruz, answers the question of what might have happened if Jo March had said yes to Laurie in Little Women. A Secret Princess (2022), also with de la Cruz, combines characters from A Little Princess and The Secret Garden into a new story set in the same era.
These books are all independent of each other and can be read in any order. They tend to appeal to readers who enjoy Stohl’s writing voice but want something different from her paranormal and Marvel work.
