Margaret Atwood’s picture books show a playful, humorous side that contrasts with her more serious literary fiction. Anna’s Pet (1980) was her first children’s book, followed by the alliterative Princess Prunella and the Purple Peanut (1995).
She later wrote a series of alliterative children’s stories, including Rude Ramsay and the Roaring Radishes (2003), Bashful Bob and Doleful Dorinda (2004), and Wandering Wenda (2011). A Trio of Tolerable Tales (2017) collected three of these stories together.
