Marcia Muller’s four standalone novels sit outside her various series and show different sides of her writing. The Lighthouse (1986), co-written with Bill Pronzini, is set in an isolated lighthouse on the California coast and mixes mystery with atmospheric suspense. Crucifixion River (2007), also with Pronzini, pairs two novellas by the married authors.
The Lighthouse of Terror (2011) and Kindling Point (2014) are later standalones that further demonstrate Muller’s range beyond her series characters. These books give readers who have finished the McCone or Carpenter and Quincannon series additional Muller novels to explore.
