The Malone Trilogy is one of many series by Maureen Peters (1935-2008), a prolific Welsh historical novelist. Peters wrote well over 100 novels during her career, many set in the Tudor and medieval periods, under her own name and several pen names including Veronica Black, Catherine Darby, and Sharon Whitby.
The trilogy begins with Tansy and Kate Alanna, both published in 1975, and concludes with A Child Called Freedom twenty years later in 1995. Peters was educated at the University College of North Wales, Bangor, and worked as a teacher of disabled children before turning to fiction full time. Her historical novels are known for their focus on women characters navigating the constraints and dangers of their eras.
