The Madion War Trilogy by S. Usher Evans is set in a fictional world where the country of Kylae, ruled by King Grieg, has been fighting to reclaim its former colony of Rave for fifty years. Prince Galian is third in line to the throne but prefers his work as a hospital resident. Captain Theo Kallistrate dreams of a day when she is no longer bound by conscription to fight for Rave’s independence. When the two are stranded together on an island, they must cooperate to survive.
The trilogy is an enemies-to-lovers romance set against a backdrop of political conflict and war. The world draws on WWII-era inspiration, with military technology and political tensions standing in for traditional magic systems. All three books were published between 2016 and 2017, and a complete box set includes the bonus novella The Prince and the Heiress.
