The Maddleskirk Abbey series blends monastic life with murder investigation. Set at a fictional Benedictine abbey in Yorkshire, the books feature a small internal police force of “monk-constables,” nicknamed “monkstables,” established with the help of retired Constable Nick from Rhea’s earlier series.
Murder at Maddleskirk Abbey (2013) and Confession at Maddleskirk Abbey (2015) each present a murder within the abbey grounds. The second book adds the complication of the Seal of Confession, as one of the monkstables hears a murder confession he cannot reveal while a body is discovered nearby.
