The Low Down Dirty Vote series is a collection of crime fiction anthologies edited by Mysti Berry. Each volume gathers short stories from mystery and thriller writers around a common theme: voting, politics, and the democratic process. The stories range from historical settings to modern-day scenarios, with authors including Catriona McPherson, James W. Ziskin, Scott Turow, Gary Phillips, and many others.
The anthologies are also a charitable project. Proceeds from the first volume went to the ACLU, Volume 2 supported the Southern Poverty Law Center’s voter suppression programs, and Volume 3 donated to Democracy Docket. The series started in 2018 and continued through 2022, with each volume featuring around twenty authors contributing original short crime fiction.
